Discovering empowerment, optimism, and sense of peace.

Nancy’s Mission

We’ve all heard the phrase, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” but I don’t think that person had just been told by his or her doctor “You have cancer.” No one is prepared to hear that news. For almost two million people each year these terrifying words upend their lives and the lives of their loved ones.

How we will deal with these experiences, as debilitating or horrific as they might seem, is an imperative question, for the more prepared we are for the challenges of life the better our lives will be. Unfortunately, I had never given it a thought. Most of us don’t. It just happens one day and we are forced to reckon with it. For me it was the summer of 2016 and the words “You have ovarian cancer” were the beginning of a journey that upended my life and the life of my loved ones.

Don’t wait until you’re looking death in the eyes. Even if you’re just wanting more out of life, the lessons I learned from cancer are life lessons for everyone. I hope you'll discover with me some beautiful life lessons while becoming your best U.

About Nancy

Hello! I’m Nancy, a survivor of stage 4 ovarian cancer and metastatic brain cancer, among other traumatic events.

As awful and terrifying as my cancer was, it was a gift in many ways as it has helped me become a better me. Thanks to dedicated doctors, nurses, family, friends, and even strangers, I was given another day. And another day meant hope. Prayer and humor were instrumental in my success as well. I learned so many lessons the hard way, yet it’s the hard ones that seem to stick.

I try to live life with optimism and gratitude each day. It’s a great life and I recognize that it could all be gone tomorrow. Cancer taught me this. Cancer also taught me hope, resilience, patience, gratitude, and empowerment. It forced me to reach into the depths of myself and find more strength than I thought was there. It was cancer that taught me how to live each day to the fullest. My mission is to help others navigate life and its many challenges.

As a Wellness & Relationship coach, I’ve helped hundreds of people have a more empowered life through individual sessions, group seminars, and as a guest speaker. I have also been an award-winning documentary filmmaker, PBS on-air personality, and have a master’s degree in education.

I am currently a columnist for the Chester County / Unionville Times, and am writing a book about becoming the best U.

About Robert

Hi, I'm Robert Rugart. I spent the last decade of my life as a trader at a hedge fund before realizing that my line of work wasn't fulfilling.

While searching for my purpose, my incredible mother decided to start writing a book about her experience with cancer and I realized what I could do to give back to the world.

From my experiences caretaking for my grandfather, mother, and wife during their cancer journeys, I can help navigate the challenges of taking care of a loved one while staying happy, healthy, and optimistic.
